What is the “butt bucket”? That is a funny way to say Moolah bandha, the root lock- the ancient yogis called this the Master Key to all yoga, meditation and to revealing your whole life potential. How you do one thing is how you do everything. So how you stand up in your life will define the experiences of your whole life. Your posture shows your body language, like a subconscious tell that reveals your psychology and self-confidence. Primal core means- Get out of your head and back into your booty! You may think you are clever, but your body doesn’t lie. Do a self-assessment of your posture. Right now. Stand in front of a mirror and do this short video with me. Everybody says they want the truth, but can you handle the truth? I know a lot of yoga teachers who say don’t look in the mirror- but I say look at yourself so you can have objective feedback. If you always close your eyes and “go inside” you will be following your emotions…you are likely to do what you like, to fall into the patterns of compensating for injuries and weaknesses. The mirror will be a true reflection to show you if what you “think” is going on in your body- is actually what is going on. I like to call this imagination meeting reality. We want to merge our inner truth with the external reality- that is Mastery. How many times did your mom tell you to “Stand up straight!” Most of us struggle with standing postures and keeping our core engaged. After years of teaching yoga I see a common problem with beginners all the way through people who have practiced 10 years or more. Many people are used to sweaty vinyasa classes – the problem is when you get fatigued, you are most likely to fall into habits of overcompensation that lead to injury. I know because when I dislocated my knee a year ago- I was very humbled in recognizing how weak my gluteus and hamstrings were. And I thought I knew everything about yoga. Well, there is nothing like an injury to give you a swift kick in the ass to make changes. Hopefully, you won’t need an injury to be motivated to change habits and build true core strength. Learn how to engage your core to have perfect posture in your daily life and standing yoga poses. I see so many yoga practitioners struggle with weak core, I made this video to show some of the core foundation and alignment techniques that are elusive to most people. www.psalmisadora.com
