I've always had an anxiety about public speaking, particularly the exact scenario in this video which is a slot at a monthly meeting we have at work. I've spent over 12 years avoiding doing this!
As part of Mental Health Awareness week in May, the theme of which was Mindfulness, I was asked to share my journey with colleagues. I agreed and used the experience to observe and acccept how nervousness and anxiety feel in my body, instead of running from them. I also agreed to it being video'd.
As month 4 of the Happiness Club is Appreciation (aka Mindfulness in my opinion), I thought I'd share this video.
The very beginning is just cut off but I'm describing some management training my work had arranged in 2013, which involved a workshop on Mindfulness and was my first step on a wonderful journey.
