Body Balance - It's not just standing on one leg!
Look after yourself inside and out! When your lifestyle is in balance your body will be too.
In the scientific world we term balance of the body systems – homeostasis.
I have always loved this word. It just sounds right to me and it makes sense.
Often when I see a room full of executives at one of our corporate wellness workshops I can scan the room and spot people who are out of balance.
They look tired, dark circles under their eyes, some have a grey skin pallor, others are holding extra weight on their bodies and not looking comfortable while a few may be slumped with poor posture.
Big, busy, city life is tough sometimes. I get it…I live it too!
The reality is that many people find their lives and bodies out of balance because they have allowed work to become their priority with room for little else.
“My most successful and rewarded clients are those who have decided that looking after their health is a fundamental aspect of their lives.”
I do realise that to some people this may feel or seem selfish.
My belief, from seeing transformations first hand, is that once an individual lays foundations for themselves surrounding health and wellness they look, feel and perform better in work and all other areas of their lives.
This may feel big and scary to some of you out there but I can assure you that these personal foundations can be small consistent practices every week.
“Small changes can make big differences!”
Personal health foundations:
Over the next three weeks I will give you some of my top tips and tools in each area of the personal health foundations.

Practices for this week:
This week I invite you to explore how you are feeling about your body, nutrition, energy levels and your performance at work, home and in activities.
Get a journal or write in your electronic device….
Give yourself permission to take ten minutes at the start and end of each day.
Each morning ask yourself these questions:
- How do I feel in my body? (use words)
- What is my energy like?
- (rate it on scale of 1-10 – 1 being totally exhausted & 10 being bright cheery and fit as a fiddle)
- Have I scheduled time to be active today?
Every evening write the answers to these questions:
- How do I feel in my body?
- Did I perform effectively, efficiently and in a productive way today?
- What is my energy like?
- Did I move my body today?
- Did I make time to eat nurturing, nutrient rich food today?
Answer the questions on each day that speak to you. If you don’t feel like writing answers at least contemplate and become acquainted with yourself and how you are feeling each day.
The answers to these daily questions will give you some insights and awareness of where your own personal balance is at the moment.
This will help you to focus as we move through the personal health foundation tips in the coming weeks.
