The Happiness Junkie, Pollinating the planet with happiness, sharing the art of Be-ology and on a mission to always wear flip flops and smile!

I am a ‘Self-confessed Happiness Junkie’ getting my buzz from filtering ‘feel good’ into this amazing planet! I am a columnist, a professional energizer, a speaker, a spiritual mentor sharing the art of Be-ology, a life optimization coach, and last but certainly not least a Professional Giggleologist. (I like ologies) My addiction to happiness is rooted in my serious battle with anxiety and victimitus so it is my personal practice that keeps me sane. I have appeared on ITV, am a regular expert on BBC radio, have featured in numerous magazines and publications and am a regular columnist in the Birmingham Mail. As a Well-Being Consultant for local authorities and education I was very privileged to be asked to develop and implement the UK’s first Happiness & Laughter Well-Being Programme for the NHS. If you are longing to feel a deeper connection to your inner happiness, your ‘Being-ness’ then this introduction to The Happiness Junkie’s way of living and ‘being’ in the world may just provide you with some solutions to your perceived problems. Happiness truly is our birth right. Not the all singing, all dancing, ear to ear cheesy grins of happiness, but the subtle inner calm of being happy from the inside out, that spirit of happiness that lies deep inside our soul; I call this our ‘Being-ness’, our ‘Be-ing’

Engaging storyteller, Prolific Journalist, Empowering People Matters

Hello Psychologies Tribe, Let me introduce myself! I'm an experienced journalist with a career spanning more than 30 years writing for newspapers, magazines and online publications in Australia and the UK. I write about relationships, health and humanitarian issues. I'm a qualified Counsellor and Workshop Facilitator. I moved from Australia to the UK in 2009 and now live near the beach in Folkestone, Kent and part of the year in Kenya doing community work.
I am a Chartered Accountant for a Housing Association, who is a mum to 2 small children. I discovered Mindfulness in 2013 and this was a turning point for me to really be committed and present wherever I am. Life isn't as worrying as I used to think when I used to listen to all my 'what if' thoughts and I now feel braver and more confident. I set up a Happiness Club in 2015 in conjunction with Psychologies magazine and as with Mindfulness am already loving the difference it's making to my life and those around me.

Action for Happinesss

I'm the lead positive psychology expert at Action for Happiness (I also lead our work with organisations). I led the development of our 10 Keys to Happier Living. Based on scientific research, each key is an area where we can take practical action in our lives to help us be happier and contribute to making a happier society. My background is in people and organisation development. When I learnt about positive psychology as a new area of research I felt it had the potential to make a big difference for people and the organisations they work in and I wanted to learn more. So I took the leap and went to study with Martin Seligman (the 'father' of positive psychology) and with many of the leading researchers in the field of positive psychology. It's been a fun and interesting journey! I've worked with Action for Happiness from the start. I see my role as helping people to unpack happiness and take action. We often say that we want to be happy but do we understand the ingredients and the actions that takes? What makes me most happy? It's simple: to learn, laugh and love; to feel like what I do makes a difference; to use my body (yoga, walking, joggling), be outside - especially by the sea! I also enjoy making things around me beautiful, food and markets!
