About Chryssa Chalkia
I started working in mental health in 2006 and since then I have gained extensive experience working for private, voluntary, educational and public sectors. I have worked for respectable private companies as an associate therapist, delivered therapy through the Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) and worked for the NHS in primary (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies IAPT Service) and secondary care (inpatient and community settings), in the UK as well as in Greece. I have worked with adults and groups with a wide range of difficulties, from feelings of depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, difficult relationships and workplace problems to cultural difficulties and diagnosed mental health conditions. Also, my experience includes designing and delivering wellbeing and recovery workshops to groups according to NICE guidelines. I am a Clinical Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor, accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College (HIPC). I hold an MA in Psychoanalysis, MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, a BSc(Hons) and a Diploma in Psychology & Counselling and a Certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) & Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Also, I am in the process of completing a Professional Diploma in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In my practice I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental setting in which we can talk about any difficulties that you might currently experience whilst looking at ways to overcome them. I am passionate about supporting individuals to improve their wellbeing and make positive changes in their lives. My philosophy is that combining elements from different approaches and tailoring the treatment according to individual’s needs works best. I believe in personal and professional development through self-awareness. Together we can explore how your feelings, thoughts, personal history and current life circumstances interact with each other and are contributing to your current difficulties. My aim is to help you understand yourself better, the choices that you make in life, relieve emotional difficulties, change destructive behavioural patterns and make sense of such experiences. At the end of our work you will have new skills to overcome your difficulties, you will feel more in control of your life and be able to live a more balanced, happier and fulfilling life.
