Do you have goals and dreams that flit in and out of your head every now and then?
I know I do. I’m always day dreaming about things I want to achieve, do, be, or even things I’d like to have.
But isn’t it annoying when those goals never seem to get any closer?
And actually, sometimes you wish you hadn’t even thought of them, because when they do pop back into your head they highlight to you that you’re still in exactly the same place as you were 6 months ago which then just makes you feel EVEN MORE frustrated.
But I believe that without having goals, we’d have nothing to strive for.
Goals can be big or small, short, medium and long term in time
It might be to finally book on that course, write that email, stop drinking so much, become an actor, lose weight, or even have a holiday home in Portugal.
It doesn’t matter if they sound bold and out there, or very reachable, it doesn’t matter because they’re YOUR goals, no one else’s. It’s your head, your life and your dreams and why not dream big.
No, the time to get frustrated when they do pop back into your head, is if you haven’t even done one thing to help you move forward towards that goal.
It’s lovely to daydream and have these things in our head – but until we actually write them down, get a plan and start DOING, then that’s all they’ll ever be.
My goals are always being reviewed, changed or added to. In fact, I have a few different ways of capturing my goals in order to work towards them (I found that some ways work better for me than others, and I can share these techniques if you’re interested to know more)
Last week I opened my journal to look back at the 6 month goals list I’d created a few months back, and guess what? I was able to tick 3 of them off my list…
This felt absolutely bloody amazing and it was a high five moment!!!
I don’t think I’d have achieved them so quickly if I'd written them down, put timelines against them and then most importantly TAKEN ACTION.
Are you ready to have some high five moments?
Take out a pen and paper NOW and write down 1 or 2 things you will take action on TODAY in order to help you move towards your goals.
You need to take that action today though! This will help start to make the dream become a reality.
