Seeds From the Solstice

And a Happy New Year

Like Comment

My children and I walked in the woods on the Winter Solstice and it got me thinking about the turning of the world and the inevitability of the cycle of the seasons. I remembered having the concept of the shortest day explained to me when I was about three or four years old. I thought of all the seasons and summers and winters and Christmases and New Years since then. When I became old enough to stay up till midnight as the year changed and we went out into the garden at midnight. How I believed it when I was told that the bells from Croydon Clocktower were Big Ben. The different cities I’ve lived in, the anticipation of the next chapter. Where will I decide to go, how will I get there? When will my children be allowed to stay up till midnight?

Everything is changing all the time and often, due to our ingrained rituals, as I talked about before Christmas, we expect ourselves or our environment to stay the same. The rituals have reinforced a sense of safety where we are, but change is an unavoidable phenomena. It's how we choose to affect, effect and entertain it that has a lot to do with the direction in which we choose to change.

In our lives we often expect change to be a sacrifice; that in order for something to be improved, something must also be lost, but if we look at nature we can see that change is an evolution of one type of beauty into another. It doesn’t mean that you can’t revisit that season on its next stop on the journey but enjoy it with a different perspective.

As we walked in the woods on the solstice, it was clearly winter. We know without doubt that spring is on its way.

Creative Visualisation is about projecting yourself and your senses into the place where the change has already happened and as sure as spring will return, be sure of the results that you want from the changes you are making. Know they are on their way.

Underground, spring is already in action; there are roots below the surface working their way upwards, seeds will be germinating, hibernating creatures are preparing to wake up. See the changes you want to make in this same way. Just because the results aren’t visible yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t happening. What changes are germinating inside you? What roots are pushing to the surface, ready to blossom in Spring?

If you would like some help with this, I have made my  Life Redesign package  choose what you pay for the whole of January.
