Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021

2020 I had high hopes for you!

2020 a lovely even number - rounded shape and even spread. Who could have predicted the shape of this particular year!

If you had 2020 foresight - what would you have said to yourself in December 2019?

I’m guessing I would have spent most of January hugging all the loved ones in my life. And I would have thrown in lots of kisses too, at least 2 on each cheek, breathing in all that air without a trace of worry!

And that’s a gift of sorts from the ragbag of uncertainty and worry that’s been the takings of 2020. The small stuff is precious:

A hug, a handshake, a shared meal with friends.

Can you remember the simple, unthinking pleasure of popping for a cuppa to your favourite local cafe without a mask or hand sanitiser in sight!

And well you know the small stuff, the stuff it was all so easy to take for granted, has now become the big stuff. The kind we dream about.  Because we long to connect. It’s deep in our collective DNA. And not being able to, has taken its toll on us all!

And that’s got me thinking about the close of this year.

A time to take stock on the year we’re all just so ready to leave behind! December’s a month to relish, food, family and festivities. It’s a pivot point, just as we pass the Winter solstice, the days start to stretch that little bit longer, and we know we’re moving forward to Spring!

And with the new moon in Cancer today, it’s the perfect time to set your intention for the year ahead

So right now as the last days of this tough old year draw to a close, a chance for some reflection.

To set the truth north of our compass into 2021, a few questions to help you steer your path forward:

What will you take with you from 2020 into the year ahead?

And what will you leave behind?

What wisdom can you offer to your 2021 self, from the final days of December 2020?

What are your more precious priorities for the year ahead?

What would you like to feel in December 2021 as you look back at the year?

Jot your answers in a journal -and take a look at them on the 1st of each month.

The simplest of rituals, to check you’re on track to your intended destination. And if you steer off course from the compass of your year, a chance to tweak it in the direction of your dreams.

And of course when you can - I wish you so many happy hugs and kisses with all those you love in your life!

Stay safe, and well.
