7 Things to Tell Yourself Every Morning to Start the Day Feeling Confident & Empowered

The way you start the day will condition your mood for the rest of the day.

That’s why many experts highlight the importance of having a morning routine.

It doesn’t need to be complicated, it can be something that takes less than 2 minutes.

In this article I want to suggest a very simple but powerful exercise to do every morning that will take you literally 1 minute to do.

Grab a piece of paper and write the following 7 messages. Have it handy on your bedside table or somewhere visible near the bed.

Read your statements as soon as you wake up to start the day feeling confident and empowered.

Like with any new habit, it might be a good idea to set an alarm so you don’t forget reading your list.

It will take less than a minute to do it and if you read it with really a strong intention, it will change your mindset for the rest of the day!

In the list below, I’m giving general statements but feel free to customise your own messages as appropriate (this will make the exercise even more powerful!)

  1. Thank you for another day. Thank you for my family and friends. Thank you for my life.

Choose 3 things you feel truly grateful for. They can be the same every morning or different. The key is to deeply connect to the feeling of gratitude and remain in this state for the rest of the exercise.

  1. I can do it. Whatever is in my to do list, I can do it.

Visualise yourself accomplishing all you need to do in the day.

  1. This will pass. It’s going to be OK. I’ve been through many difficult situations before and I made it. I have all the inner resources I need.

Whatever difficult situation you are facing at the moment, remember it is a temporary situation and it will pass. I’m sure it’s not the first challenging situation you face in your life, and I’m sure you have many skills and resources to deal with it.

  1. I am strong, powerful, and determined.

Choose three/five traits that you want to reinforce or add to your beliefs system.

  1. I’m not my inner critical voice. I’m in control of my inner critic. I don’t need it today.

Our inner critic can be our worst enemy. Don’t let it take over. Acknowledge it and feel you are in control and not the other way around. You can even visualise yourself locking your inner critic in a drawer, in the freezer or somewhere where you feel it won’t bother you.

  1. I give myself permission to rest when I need it.

This includes resting physically and mentally. Start your day knowing that if at some point you need to stop and have a break you won’t fight yourself and the inner critic won’tmake  you feel guilty about it.

  1. My intention for today is to have a day full of love, joy and success.

It can be a general statement or something very specific like getting a particular task done or attend a meeting with confidence. Visualise yourself in that situation.

Spend some time visualising what you want to achieve while connecting with an elevated emotion (gratitude, love, empowerment, joy, etc.)

Read this list every day as soon as you wake up for the next week and enjoy the results!
