How I got on with my four days of no caffeine, no alcohol and no sugar
Hands up to this one. I failed. No problem with the sugary food and alcohol ( I prefer savoury and tend to only drink on weekend as a rule.) However day two into the experiment with no caffeine and it was a Monday, it was only 9.15 and I had only been in work for an hour. I had a particularly difficult meeting in the afternoon that I could not miss and my sister was having surgery that day so that was playing on my mind. In other words a stressy day where I kept checking my phone for any good news. I had hot and cold shivers and after putting on the ‘*office cardigan’ and sitting on top of the heater and feeling no better I started to think that I would never get through the day in work. It suddenly occurred to me if it might be related to my caffine withdrawal? So I thought I would have a coffee. Within half and hour I felt perfectly fine. This has really made me think. I think that it is rather telling. So I have swapped now for decaff tea and coffee except for one special one I have in the morning. I think I am less anxious and jumpy and I think the quality of my sleep has improved. This experiment has opened my eyes to something I was in denial about and has triggered some changes so thank you.
btw my sis is home and recovering well.
