This week marks the exciting new launch of Positive News Magazine! This stunning magazine is beautiful in both design and content. For those of you who may have not heard of them, I am delighted to introduce you!

I am always amazed by the human potential; our compassion to care, our creativity to problem solve, our capacity for growth and innovation, our courage to persevere in face of difficulty and the continued effort from so many to make the world a better place. It is inspiring to hear these stories that capture the human spirit at its best. The news, however, tends to share stories about the darker side of human nature. We are witnesses, daily, of destructive human behaviour that creates divide and discourse in the world. I am fully aware of the importance of the news reporting these problems and they do that extremely well. But I am in favour hearing these problems in a broader context, where the picture painted by the media includes stories of solutions being implemented in response to the problems reported. Positive News does exactly that…

Positive News has, for the past 22 years, been held in our hands as a newspaper. The new magazine is an exciting transformation of design but their journalism remains perfectly untouched. The magazine “showcases rigorous journalism about progress and possibility”. Positive News relaunch editor Danielle Batist said: “Our new magazine shows that good journalism can also be about the good things that are happening. We don’t stop at highlighting a problem but use that as a starting point before asking what’s being done about it. We then investigate solutions critically, moving beyond the hero tale or happy story, to uncover socially relevant insights into what’s going well in the world.”

If you want to remain informed, engaged and connected to the world, I suggest you add this to your news diet to provide a balanced perspective on the world. To become a member, please visit http://www.positive.news/join/
