The best answers are the ones that come from inside

Often, by the time clients consider psychotherapy, they have been struggling with what troubles them for some time. There have usually been multiple attempts to sort out difficulties and overcome distress, sometimes spanning a period of time.

People come for support because they want something to change. Clients do not seek out help to simply talk about what they already know, but to discover something new.  Often there is a misattribution in clients believing that the something new will come from the therapist, that it needs to be from outside of themself.  This is seldom the case.

Psychotherapy is there to support clients in accessing parts of themselves, inner resources, that have not yet become apparent.  We are multi-faceted beings, we have many aspects and parts, and we have forgotten far more than we currently know.

Curiosity, sponsorship and advocacy can gently help clients connect with what is inside them, discovering different emotional states and ways of being, and achieving integration of competing or unfamiliar dimensions of the self.

How? By enabling clients to alter their state and way of being, and by developing a depth of relationship that can withstand the uncomfortable, psychotherapy gives the space to experiment with new ways of being and relating. It enables clients to risk being different, first in the therapy room, and then in life contexts that they want to change.

If you keep doing what you are currently doing, you will keep getting what you currently get. Change can be subtle, but small adjustments can have big effects.
