Treasure Maps - a simple tool to help you get to where you want to go
I work with people who need a bit of a helping hand to rediscover what makes them shine, be energised and succeed. This post gives you a simple tool to help you succeed and overcome barriers
Kim Morgan introduced me to this tool a few months back and I love it.
Flexible, energising and transformational and a useful structure you can use to help you move forward. I've used it around projects, challenges, relationships and conversations
The Treasure Map is a great tool to help you visualise where you want to get to, understand what's stopping you and then find the ways that will help you move towards success.
Have a go:
- visualise success and draw/write words to describe what's happening them. Be as specific as you can - what is happening, what are you seeing, what are you doing, what results have you secured, what are people saying, how are you feeling, how are you celebrating your success?
- draw or write words to describe where you are now;
- think about what's stopping you from getting there, write down each barrier
- take each barrier or hurdle at a time and write down the actions you took which helped you get to your future world
- design your stepping stones to get you to success.
Why do I love this tool? I think it's because it gives you control, frees up creativity and is so flexible.
Looking back on my NLP training many years ago I always loved work around well-formed outcomes and future pacing. The Treasure Map builds on these NLP approaches and really works.
Good luck
Sandra
