Play for Wellbeing

As our work/lifestyles become ever busier, we need new tools and activites to tune out of our "stress heads"

As the saying goes, "Laughter is the best medicine", and we know it's true; a good laugh, and being playful eases stress and can give us new perspective.

The importance of Play for children's learning and development is well documented, but what if it's also true for grown-ups? 

There is mounting evidence that play is hugely beneficial for adults in their personal and work lives. Play for adults has a number of important transferable skills which we can contribute to us becoming more able to manage our stress thoughts and stress levels:

Play, like meditation/mindfulness or sport, allows us to be "present" and in the moment, giving us a break and letting us switch of from the minutiae of daily to-do lists and pressing issues and return to these with fresh eyes and a calmer outlook. 

Regular play and creativity helps us to be spontaneous and able to think on our feet; we can develop a more playful, creative mindset and let go of the pressure to always “get it right”. We can move on from perceived mistakes, forgiving ourselves quicker. We consider how we might do something differently and look forward to how we might approach a situation in a new way.

What better way to boost our wellbeing and work relationships than through having fun!
