Challenge- design something from nothing

This challenge was to create or design something from scratch to live in the moment

This week’s challenge was to design  something from nothing. I am a bit of a big kid and I am always doodling or thinking about what I can paint or create next. It’s usual something to do with my house or garden. I loved Blue Peter as a child but my go at making things never quite looked like they should but never the less I enjoyed making them. Wake up is about living in the moment, stop dreaming and really being in the here and now. Sometimes I find this difficult and find myself daydreaming or my mind is rushing ahead with things that need doing or I find myself wishing my life away.  I don’t want to waste a moment and yet sometimes, something holds me back.

I decided to get some crafting back in my life. I popped into a haberdashery and picked up some threads and found an old piece of linen that I had for years and decided to give it a modern twist, it only took me and afternoon and it was very calming I found. It may not be to anyone's taste but the message for me is a good one to be reminded of when anxiety is at large.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind Mark when you set up the challenge, but this is what I created.

I’ve since started working on a bear- for no one in particular just for me, just for fun and just for wake up.

I'm a single parent of ONE lovely lanky teenager.. I live in deepest rural Wales . My 'proper' job is in marketing and events but I am also a trained reflexologist, masseur and reiki giver (go figure!) I also look after my Mum who is in her late 80's, my dog Ted, my cat Black and my hens and dream is to have a small holding and offer people holidays in my teepee and maybe the odd therapy as you can see I am a mass of contradictions.... I like to walk, do yoga, eat salad and visit new places but I also like to drive fast, Feast ice lollies, vodka on Friday's with friends(, which leads to dancing in my kitchen) my coffee , and staying up late... I can be outgoing but also extremely shy so like the rest of you I am still trying to figure it out one day at a time...

This is amazing. Love it, superb.

You've took it to the next level. Thanks for doing the challenge, it sounds like you got a good insight into yourself from it.

I took the easy way out (sort of) by designing a board game called Cops 'n' Robbers. It's a bit like Trivia Pursuit but with the categories being all linked with (literally) cops and robbers. The categories include; film, TV, literature and facts. You roll a dice and go around the board answering questions and when you've collected a 'clue' by answering all the categories correct you get to race to catch the criminal. You could use the format for different genres too.

The fun bit was the design of the board (3D and in the shape of a classic American cop badge, and the counters were cop cars from TV and film (Kojak's car, Columbo's car, Gene Hunt's from Life on Mars, Starsky and Hutch's Gran Torino, etc, you get the picture). A bit of a boys game really but eh-oh.

Once again thanks for doing the challenge - superb!
