2016- You beauty!

What taking part in the Wake UP challenge did for me.

As 2016 draws to an end its natural that we should look back at the year that has been and mull over what was good, what was bad and maybe what needs to change. It is nearly a year since I started blogging for Wake Up and I have enjoyed every minute of the experience- even the weeks when I found it impossible to complete the challenge, because each week I had a private challenge which added another layer to my life and each week when I wrote up my experience and as my confidence grew - I found the writing and sharing my experience with my wake up family was hugely cathartic and nourished me in a way I hadn't felt before. We all had to stop, consider, change and share and I loved it! I loved reading others experiences, how different we interpret things and how similar we are at the same time. We are all human and we all have the same basic needs, insecurities and we are all on the whole kind people. I met three of you in October and it felt really special. So when the challenges came to an end, I suddenly felt bereft of my weekly secret pleasure and I missed the communication with other wake uppers.

I have been wondering how to fill the gap and myself and a few others did discuss carrying on into 2017 and each taking turn to set up the challenge. It doesn't have to be every week but I have a few ideas and I wondered if anyone else was up for it? Jacqui, I know you are. I wonder if Chris would mind and whether we could still use this platform. I felt so proud when my copy of the book arrived with an inscription from Chris and I'm almost tempted to do them all again!!

So I hope you're Christmas has been filled with comfort and joy.

For 2017 may you have

a Joyful January

a Fabulous February

a Memorable March

an Awesome April

a Marvelous May

a Jovial June

a Jaunty July

an Amazing August

a Successful September

an Outstanding October

a Notable November and

a Divine December.

But above all may you be healthy and happy. If I could share with you what I have learnt from taking part in this challenge, the advice I would give would be... don't be afraid of your dreams as I once was, do things one step at a time, create the life you want and learn to love and respect yourself and be responsible for your own happiness.

I hope you can forgive this rather self indulgent round up of the year on the eve of New Years Eve but I couldn't finish 2016 without one last post.

I'm a single parent of ONE lovely lanky teenager.. I live in deepest rural Wales . My 'proper' job is in marketing and events but I am also a trained reflexologist, masseur and reiki giver (go figure!) I also look after my Mum who is in her late 80's, my dog Ted, my cat Black and my hens and goldfish...my dream is to have a small holding and offer people holidays in my teepee and maybe the odd therapy ....so as you can see I am a mass of contradictions.... I like to walk, do yoga, eat salad and visit new places but I also like to drive fast, Feast ice lollies, vodka on Friday's with friends(, which leads to dancing in my kitchen) my coffee , and staying up late... I can be outgoing but also extremely shy so like the rest of you I am still trying to figure it out one day at a time...

Fi I miss the writing - having a reason to write about an experience I know others are trying. I miss reading the views of others that have really broadened my outlook in life. I really miss the weekly contact with the Wake Uppers! So perhaps we do need to pave the way with our own projects. It would be lovely to do it together. Loved the post! Lots of love.

Lovely post, Fi! Great idea to round up the year, and I'd be up for keeping things going with some shared challenges. Vx
