Questions to ask to find happiness in 2015
Stuff resolutions for 2015, how about getting in touch with what makes you feel alive right now! Our lives can become filled with an ongoing conveyer belt of things we need to do. We think that when we get to the end of the luggage belt of jobs, we can take time off and be happy. The problem is that the longer we spend solving problems and getting things done, when we finally get the free we don’t know what to do with it as we've forgotten what we searching for to make us happy! Here are three questions to keep you in touch with yourself in 2015.
1. What makes you like yourself the most?
I don’t mean what do you enjoy or what do you like, I mean what makes you like YOU! I enjoy cake, but it doesn’t make me like myself and I hate the gym, but the gym does make me like myself. Ask yourself what are you doing when you like yourself the most?
2. If you could do anything with tomorrow, how would you spend that day?
You have the money for it and you couldn’t possibly fail so what would it be? Could you put this into action in your life in 2015?
3. In whose company do you most feel yourself? Make a list of the people who make you love yourself when you are in their company.
Ever found yourself making more time for the people you don’t feel close to and the ones you do get less time? Well, it might be time to make a switch. Next year try and spend more time with the people who make you like yourself.
For some people, New Year is a time for reflection and thinking up ways to make this next year better than the last. For example, in my new book, ‘Cupcakes and Coffee’, the lead character, Sam finds herself taking a young, in fact much younger man(!) home on New Years Eve. Sometimes at New Year we do things purely to feel alive, New Year can be like a mid-life crisis we get to have once a year! We make promises to ourselves that we will change and become better. For me its about focusing on what makes you happy, and if that’s doing something a little out of character and a bit crazy like Sam - if it makes you feel alive, I say do it!
