Mothering Sunday - almost?
Mothering Sunday isn't a happy event for all.
It's all about 'mothering' on March 26th. But many of us may not want to think about this - maybe because we are estranged from our mother or we have a particularly tricky relationship with her. But also - as I know only too well from the work I do - Mothering Sunday can feel particularly painful for those struggling to conceive, or who have lost a baby in pregnancy. We don't know yet how to deal with infertility and pregnancy loss in our culture - although awareness of the pain of both is increasing, we still don't know where to place these inevitable, painful, unfairly common experiences amongst the realm of other human experiences like birth and death.
Anyone reading this is sure to know someone who will have been affected by a loss of motherhood, so please spare a thought.
