Honouring 2018

As 2018 draws to a close, it is tempting to shift focus onto 2019, to new year resolutions, and hopes and dreams for the future.

I've been reflecting on this tendency to focus on the future, to always be wondering what now, what next?  I think it is important to let the end of the year be a time to pause, and reflect. Twelve full months have passed, much will have happened, most likely with a mix of pleasure and pain, of happy and poignant memories.

Here are a few questions to encourage reflection about your year and how you are now experiencing it:

1.  What are you most pleased about? What do you want to celebrate?

2.  Who are the people who have been important to you this year? How can you let them know you appreciate them?

3.  Which experiences will you still remember in 10 years? What makes them significant or special?

4.  What has happened that has spurred you on to do something different? What will you look back on as prompting you to change?

5. What do you now know about yourself? How have you grown?

6.  What is now possible as a result of your experiences this year?

Honouring 2018 puts you in a strong position to make the most of 2019, building on your strengths, and the blessings of your support network.

Wishing you well for the festive season, and hoping 2019 brings you what you most want.
